The essence of the experience
A Sobremesa Private Spanish Immersion is a one-of-a-kind, founder-led journey through Barcelona co-authored between you, me, and the city’s creative heart. Think of it as an aesthetic-based language immersion, intimate, sensory, intentional.
From one afternoon to a week, you’ll move like an insider: private Spanish lessons in curated spaces, creative workshops with local artists, visits to ateliers and studios, slow walks through historic neighborhoods, and rituals that make language feel alive. A time handcrafted around your rhythm, your interests, and the creative pulse of Barcelona. Every moment is designed with you, not for you. Your immersion grows from a deep conversation about who you are and what inspires you, becoming a mirror of your creative world.
This is a premium, bespoke experience for people who believe language can transform the way we see ourselves and the world: a way to learn Spanish through beauty, artistry, and meaningful connection; and to step into a Barcelona most people never touch.

Who I am, and how I guide you

I’m Lydia, founder of Sobremesa.Institute, cultural concierge, language educator, and the person who will personally guide you through every moment of your immersion.
Imagine having the key to the hidden parts of the city, discovering the corners where artists work behind unmarked doors. Sitting in a textile studio learning new vocabulary through color and texture. Tasting wine in a quiet bodega, practicing Spanish with ease because the moment holds you. Watching the sunrise with a local photographer and realizing that language is already living inside you, waiting for space to unfold.
This is the tone of your immersion: slow, beautiful, crafted around your curiosity.
I spent years teaching Spanish and running language schools before building the experience I’d never seen myself: language, beauty, and creativity held together, in a city I know from the inside. The artists, designers, and makers who shape Barcelona aren’t contacts on a list; they’re people who inspire me, and when you join a private immersion, I open that world to you.
This is my most high-touch offering, the closest you can get to how I actually work. I design and accompany everything, from our first conversation to our last walk through the city, shaped with care, emotional intelligence, and aesthetic coherence.
I believe language is a doorway to belonging, identity, and meaning. I don’t teach Spanish the conventional way. I create the space for you to feel held enough to fully express yourself, welcomed into Barcelona from the inside, at ease in your Spanish, leaving expanded by beauty, connection, and your own becoming.
That’s what I offer in every immersion.
The key.
To the language.
To my city.
To a part of you that’s been waiting to unfold.
It would be an honor to create this experience with you.
A quietly luxurious journey shaped with
a deeply human approach to language, culture,
and the way you experience the world
Made for people like you
This private immersion is for you if language has never been only about words for you;
if language is the way you connect, create, and understand the world.
You’ve studied Spanish before, but you want to live it now, not memorize it.
You value depth over speed, and you’d rather have one week designed entirely around you
than a program built for everyone.
You’re drawn to beauty: the way a space is composed, a meal is served, a city reveals itself
when someone opens the right doors.
You want to know Barcelona from the inside: the studios, the makers, the corners that stay closed to most.
You’re a creative at heart — whether that’s your profession or the way you move through the world —
and you want your Spanish to grow inside that creativity, not apart from it.
You’re ready to invest real time, attention, and care in something that stays with you long after the week ends.
If you recognize yourself here, this was made for you.
Here’s what learning with Sobremesa has felt like for our guests

Xanthe Appleyard
Content strategist
“I was immediately drawn to the branding — but what I didn’t expect was how much Lydia herself embodies the visual aesthetic of the brand, through the people she knows throughout the city, the businesses she supports, the things she does for enjoyment. I immediately connected with her on a personal level through shared interests.“

Anusha Rao
Founder & CEO of rooh
“From the beginning, Lydia treated me like family, not just a student. She genuinely cares about my life, my growth, and what’s happening outside of class, and that makes learning feel deeply personal. Spanish isn’t confined to lessons; it’s part of our real conversations, our jokes, our check-ins. That sense of connection is something I’ve never experienced anywhere else.“

Denys Fedorov
Film Director
“Learning a new language with a teacher who has a strong cultural background and rich life experience makes the whole process much more meaningful.“

Stephanie Viray
Chef
“I didn’t expect to look inward so much while learning Spanish…Who I am, where I’m from, what I do for work and for fun, my daily life, my family and friends… learning how to talk about these things in Spanish has made me reflect more on that information and how I’m presenting it, because what you say is just as important as how you say it.”
I create the space for you to feel held enough to speak freely, as yourself

If that resonates, you’re in exactly the right place.
- Where will I stay?
We partner with The Hoxton, Poblenou—a design-forward hotel that blends creativity, comfort, and quiet luxury. Its aesthetic warmth, thoughtful details, and vibrant neighbourhood make it the ideal base for your immersion.

Dining is an essential part of your cultural immersion. Rather than a pre-set list, we curate your meals with intention. You’ll receive a selection of restaurant recommendations drawn from Lydia’s personal network, places that reflect Barcelona’s creative and culinary soul. Together, we’ll refine the list based on your tastes and interests, and we can always incorporate new spots you’re curious about (pending Lydia’s approval to ensure alignment with the immersion’s experience).

Yes. All dietary needs—vegan, gluten-free, medical restrictions, or personal preferences—can be accommodated. Simply share them with us during your planning session.

All payments are completed via bank transfer.
